It's conference season for the SilviaTerra team!  

We'll be exhibiting at the Society of American Foresters National Convention this week, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.  Biometrician Nan Pond will be also presenting on how you can create and use 'heatmaps' of stand volume.

Here’s where we’ve been already this fall:

In September, SilviaTerra founder Zack Parisa spoke at Who Will Own the Forest? 11, at the World Forestry Center in Portland, OR. Zack talked about the competitive advantage afforded to managers and investors by collecting precise inventory information, and the increased value of forestland managed with that information.

Zack and Nan also recently attended the Southern Mensurationists Annual Meeting and the Fourth International Conference on Forest Measurements and Quantitative Methods and Management, held in beautiful Blacksburg, VA.  The conference offered two days of excellent conversation and discussions of recent biometrics research.

Zack gave a talk at the Southern Mensurationists meeting entitled What is a "good" inventory?  Zack's talk covered some of the recent issues SilviaTerra has been considering - assessing the costs of different inventory methods and the expected loss of making decisions with incomplete or imprecise inventory data.

We also had a SilviaTerra conference of sorts in mid October. Our fully remote team met in Raleigh for a week to plan out our next few months of projects and development work- we’re excited about what we have slated to roll out in the rest of 2015.
